Product Overview
IGF-1, also known as Somatomedin C, is a recombinant human 70-amino-acid single-chain polypeptide. The protein features three intramolecular disulfide bridges that stabilize its tertiary structure. The amino acid sequence is identical to that of endogenous human IGF-1.

Structural Context
IGF-1 is a 70-amino-acid single-chain polypeptide cross-linked by three intramolecular disulfide bridges. The structure displays homology to proinsulin: positions 1 to 29 correspond to the insulin B chain, and positions 42 to 62 correspond to the insulin A chain. A 12-residue connecting peptide (positions 30 to 41) shows no homology to the proinsulin C-peptide. The molecule contains an octapeptide sequence at the C-terminal end that is not found in proinsulins. All half-cystine and glycine residues, along with most nonpolar core residues of the insulin monomer, are conserved, supporting a three-dimensional structure similar to that of insulin.
Handling and Storage
The peptide is supplied in lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder form in a 1 mg vial. For optimal stability, store lyophilized material at or below -20°C. Protect from repeated freeze-thaw cycles, moisture, and prolonged exposure to light.
Research Applications
This product is manufactured and supplied as a chemical reference standard for in-vitro laboratory research applications including analytical method development, chromatographic reference studies, structural characterization, and protein stability assessments in controlled laboratory environments.
